Environmental Information

Environmental information regarding the state of our natural resources is abundant, including statistics and facts on pollution, endangered species and the changing ozone layer. We continue seeking to understand our human impact on the world around us, studying and planning ways to save and protect the earth. We, too, seek to care for the environment because we are stewards of God's creation: "The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof" (Psalm 24:1).

People need to understand the overall condition of our planet and how healthy our planet is. The environment is that which makes up our surroundings and affects our ability to live on earth, including the air, water, vegetation, etc. As our technology advances, we have newer and more accurate ways of measuring the impact we have made on the environment. Consequently, increased environmental education has raised concerns for the condition of the environment among individuals as well as special interest groups, as the awareness of potential environmental problems increases.

Such facts also consist of how humans have affected the environment. When we realize that air pollution, deforestation and acid rain are direct results from human actions, we will also realize the need for increased education about our impact on the environment. While someone may be interested in global environmental facts, another person may be interested in getting environmental information regarding their own community, such as water and soil quality as well as any possible environmental health risks.

Many websites provide statistics and facts regarding current issues that are of concern both locally and globally. Someone interested in environmental information can research the issues from different viewpoints, as well as find out what they can do to help protect the environment. If someone is interested in becoming more informed about the environment, especially in terms of how to help it, there are many organizations, projects and volunteer opportunities people can take part in. Again, finding these groups and opportunities for education is simple and convenient because many of them advertise on the Internet.

All of the details about man and earth are prevalent today. Anyone can merely glance at a newspaper or log onto the internet, and chances are they will see at least one article associated with the environment. Because of the increase of industry and other potential environmental hazards, it is becoming more important for people to receive education about the environment and the effects we are having on it. God has given us a beautiful place to enjoy, but also expects us to take care of it while we are here.
