LPN to RN Distance Learning Programs
LPN to RN distance learning programs are a convenient way to open the door to higher paying opportunities in nursing. A distance education program is one in which the instructor and the student are geographically separate. Instead of by face-to-face contact, instruction takes place via video, satellite TV broadcast, or Internet-based applications. With the huge demand for RNs, there has never been a better time to consider taking part in a program of this nature.
These programs will enable the individual to build upon the nursing skills and education that they have already attained and quickly earn an RN degree, which will open up more and higher paying career options. Previous LPN coursework will shorten the amount of time it takes to earn an RN license. Plus, the student will have the convenience of pursuing the program at their own pace and within the constraints of his or her current schedule.
As a LPN or licensed practical nurse, the individual has been responsible for basic patient care under the supervision of a doctor of RN. Taking part in LPN to RN distance learning programs will provide the opportunity for the individual to learn more, have more responsibility, and earn a higher rate of pay. This may also open the door for more job opportunities than the LPN certification will allow. RNs are more involved in a patients overall care and planning and they can work in just about any care setting and can focus on a particular specialty of interest. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful (Luke 6:36).
Distance education programs provide a great deal of flexibility in scheduling and pacing of coursework. Some LPN to RN distance learning programs are offered in evening or weekend only formats. Others are 100% online programs where the student can convert an LPN to a RN or BSN (Bachelors of Science in Nursing) in as little as 12 months. Any required clinical testing is done locally so the student can attend courses offered by a university across the country and never leave his or her home state.
When comparing programs of study, there are two essential pieces the student must investigate. First, the LPN to RN distance learning programs need to be accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Committee or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. These are the two nationally recognized accrediting agencies. Finally, the individual must make sure that his or her home state will recognize the program or the student will be unable to take the RN exam and earn licensure.
